Sometimes when two people are in a relationship one may progress quicker than the other. If you really love this person give them a chance to catch up.
I agree people progress quicker than others, however I think most times we know the answer before we ask. If you have ask then your looking for reassurance from that person, which shows there is a disconnect in the relationship. Remember relationships are all about communication.
I'm not sure how long I would stay, but probably not long, because it is easy to fall into the I love and chasing you arena. Instead of I love you and I am getting the samething in return.
The Feeling is not mutual. people cant make the other person love you. They should move on. There is more people that are willing to share their love. There isn't just one perfect soulmate. A relationship is based on two people wanting it to make itwork.
I would think the situation leading up the question would really effect how long you stayed. If it was just someone you were kicking it with, but had no good intentions for just out the blue said 'I love you' its time to cut bait and move on. On the flip side if it was said by someone you would like to spend time with, it may make you look at them a little harder and evaluate your own feelings or potential for feelings for that person.

u can't put a time frame on love
you may love someone and they may not feel the same for u
in that case you would continue to be friends
that's the problem today we expect ppl to feel what we feel when we feel it but that does not happen, this called individuality

I think that people grow to love at different times, it could be that you love at a time when the others person is still in a growth period.
But if you confess your love and they tell you they dont love you then I think you need to move on.
