I think its looked down upon because you are creating the illusion that having a child without the bonding of both parents is ok. And you will be raisging the child in that enviorment with that mentality...
I don't a single parent is looked down upon, its the one that the 'Keep a n***a baby' then holds the baby over his/her head to try and get them back that people look down on. If any woman wants to have baby, I can be your practice partner until you are ready for conception then I will step aside for the daddy to 'pop in'
You're looked down up because it's not accepted by society. Society says, "Marriage, then children".
I never wanted to just bring a child into this world without BOTH parents. I think a child should be brought into the best situation possible.
I was better off not marrying my daughter's father...cuz he was garbage...but I'm older now and would NOT bring another child into this world without being married. I've done it one way, and in my opinion, that was the wrong way.
Money would've helped my situation, cuz I was struggling. You can afford more resources. If I had money enough for a nanny, that would've been fantastic! It was hard to work and I hadda take off work when I'm sick and when my child is sick! Damn there can loose your job, if you not careful.
The average rich person that's doing it, even married couples...the nanny raising the kids anyway...so it don't matter.
If you always grew up with two parents...then you might not understand. If you don't have a child and was never in that situation yourself...you might not understand. Yes, an unmarried man or a woman can raise a child by himself...but frankly, having done it...TO HELL WIT DAT CRAZY ASS THINKIN!!
I don't even hear people talking about this it all anymore because being a single parent is such a common thing these days. So honestly, I wouldn't say its looked down upon.
I think that every child need both parents in their lives daily because being a parent is a full time job.
I don't think you looked down upon unless you going looking for a sperm donor, instead of trying to make something out of a relationship. It is so common now people almost expect you to be single. Which is crazy !!
so what if you honestly dont want a relationship, I didnt come from a single parent home but with slim picking of men these days I could see why one would just go to the sperm bank.
Goldenstar .. I am with you girl. I haven't had children up to this point bc I didn't want to do it alone, but now, I'm ready. I just might to go pick myself up some award winning sperm on my way to the grocery store.. Oh well. Its no one's business anyway :)
GS and STS...I'mma need you to put your best feetses forward until you're blessed with a good man, that will hopefully be your husband and the father of your children!
C'mon!!! I'm tryna put myself in your situation cuz I'm mid 30's and if it weren't for an early pregnancy I would not have the one I got.
I thought about it...and I'd wait so I can at least try to have the father, in the same household, raising the child with me.
I think that you can speak that now because you do have a child.
But you dont know where your mind set about be if you were 29 going on 30 and was ready for your family and the right man hasnt come your way as of set.
GS...honestly, you have time. If I didn't have the one I got...believe me, I still wouldn't rush into having one.
Remember, I also come from a situation of being raised by a single mom. I saw my father every now and then (once/mo). So, I still saw how it can be for a person to raise a child...and we lived around family.
Have some faith. Heck, I thought I'd be married by now (my daughter's given up hope...lol)and I keep telling the man upstairs...but He knows best and He's always on time!
How would you feel if it were a man making the same comments? He were ready for a family but the right woman hadn't come his way. Be thankful you at least have the option to go select a daddy-sicle. A man does have that option, so he is really stuck between a rock and hard place when in that situation.
Golden...that's only active not bonded Even though you may feel like you are against the clock at some point in your life you shouldn't allow that to be the primary reason you choose to make a decision...Decisions made based on emotion isn't good!
And why put yourself in a postion to where you have to explain why you made a chose like that to your kid.
You girls have me rolling .. MissT I am shouting with you .. LOL
I love when ppl keep it plain and simple ..
Goldenstar .. we just gonna have to keep it tight until our change comes .. lol
AND .. The India thing is reall yall .. 6g's goes a long way in India .. they build homes and all that with the money..It pretty neat actually. But how sad is it that American's are going half way around the world to have a child or adopt a child bc its 10x cheaper than doing the same thing in the U.S.
I lived in Honduras for a year and when they don't want their babies .. they just give them away and you have to sign the paperwork for them .. its crazy. I didn't believe it until I actually saw the transaction go down.
Well GS...if anyone on dis blog feels that way...yeah, they can live their life but if can lend my perspective, maybe some light might be shed on the real deal, when it comes go going at it alone.
And I'm glad you're not particularly speaking for yourself cuz you'd have to get some info from STS on how to get one outside da country...cuz I'd have you banned in the U.S...like a wanted pic at the Post Office...DO NOT ASSIST GOLDENSTAR IN HER FERTILIZATION ATTEMPTS!

Ha who says that!
I think as a woman you are looked at differently if your not married personally I dont care either way if you can afford to have a lil one do it.

ConRonda, how are you creating the illusion of nothing bonding with both parents, I mean you guys can still be both active in the childs life.

Well...Easy, you'd have to find a surrogate mom...$50K should cover it.
MissT .. he can go to India for 6g and have one .. I saw on date line or Oprah ..
I am gonna be patient.

And not only cheaper, STS, but the U.S. makes you jump through so many hoops to get a child. And some people here don't realize that and get upset.
So...let's see, you have an unwanted child, in the U.S., you're also a citizen and can't help your own??? Makes a lotta sense, huh?
On the other hand, you can go get a 3rd world baby for 1/4 the price and probably not have to show I.D.! LOL. Just take em and run!
I lived in Honduras for a year and when they don't want their babies .. they just give them away and you have to sign the paperwork for them .. its crazy. I didn't believe it until I actually saw the transaction go down.
CR and Miss T and didnt say that's how I felt I was just stating that a person could feel like they may want a child and not be married thats all.
I really dont see the big deal as to why not....
Just live ya life
