Yes I need a mate, I think I would love to have someone to come home to everyday and to share my most intimate thoughts.... help me around the house....someone to cook with ya know all that good stuff....
I don't NEED a mate, it would be nice to have one, but I am not going to kill myself if I don't get one. I'll just get a dog and a big ass TV, I can come home to those 2 every night, I can tell them everything and they will sit and listen quietly, not have to worry about either leaving and taking my shit when they do leave. There may not be someone for everyone, but there is a TV for me.

Why does needing someone eqaul validating or survival.
If and when someone special enters into your life you will want them and need them I think. You will need/want to know you are as special to you as you are to them. You won't need them to financially support them and things like that. I am not looking at the word need as surviving or validating me per se. I think that would be a way of slappying that person in the face if you ever told them "I don't need you ever" that will take something away... or so that's how I feel. I want to be wanted and needed and I will want/need who ever to be with me in marriage
I beleive we are defining 'Needing' in two different ways. I am using needing in the same manner as you need oxygen to live, you need fuel to power a car, you need water take a shower. I read the topic to be 'Do you want a mate, or do you need a mate?' not 'Do you want your mate to want you or do you want your mate to need you?'
Anytime I talk about needing someone in my life this is how I interpret the question. I just figure no one can really mean "need" in the sense of cant live without!

I would presume that is the root of all these murder/suicides going on. People feeling like they literally NEED someone.
